About the Our Place team

Our Place is a site devoted to promoting the benefits of place and place-based working.

The site is a project developed by the Place Standard partners (Scottish Government, Public Health Scotland, Architecture & Design Scotland, the Improvement Service and Glasgow City Council).

The website is intended to support the the integration of the Place Principle and collaborative place-based working across Scotland, to help develop healthy, sustainable and thriving communities.

The Place Standard partners have been working as an effective partnership in developing and launching the Place Standard tool in 2015.  Comprising a variety of disciplines, backgrounds and interests, the Place Standard partners have developed a focus on supporting place-based action to tackle inequalities, improve outcomes for communities and support positive action for the environment.

The Our Place website is managed by the Architecture & Place Branch and the Regeneration Unit at the Scottish Government.  The wider Place Standard partners provide advice on the purpose, focus, structure and general content of the site.

Although Our Place is delivered by public sector partners, the intention for the website is to offer the opportunity for the work of a range of organisations or individuals to be promoted where it supports positive, place-based working.

So if you want to get in touch to share leaning or information, or if you have a question on the Our Place site or place-based working in general, then you can contact us at placestandard@gov.scot

Place Standard Strategy

The Place Standard partners have developed a Strategic Plan which sets a vision for how the Place Standard tool can support place-based working across Scotland. The strategy aims to ensure that the views, stories and real life experiences of people living in a particular place are captured, valued and integrated into the heart of decision-making processes.
