Place and Wellbeing Alliance Event - April 2024
Find resources from the Place and Wellbeing Alliance online event which took place on 18 April 2024.
This event offered members of the Place & Wellbeing Alliance (P&WA) the opportunity to review a series of ‘Town Centre Living’ events held throughout Scotland during early 2024.
The event offered a chance to review exemplars and live case study projects from across the country delivering benefits for placemaking through the town centre living agenda. We organised the webinar to follow the Town Centre Living and Investment Roadshows in February and March with partners Scotland’s Towns Partnership, Scottish Futures Trust, Architecture & Design Scotland, and Scottish Land Commission.
The morning's programme included a keynote presentation from Irene Beautyman (Improvement Service) discussing the Shaping Place for Wellbeing programme, linking local place planning and health, and the relevance of public health for Town Centre Action planning.
Following the keynote presentation, Kimberley Guthrie (Scotland's Towns Partnership) offered a review from the Town Centre Living and Investment roadshow partners.
The remainder of the mornings programme was spent discussing and debating three themes:
a) How can Town Centre Living projects contribute to progress to net zero?
b) How can Town Centre Living create affordable living not just affordable housing, increasing benefits for health equity?
c) How to align places to ensure a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of everyone who settles in town centres?
